Saying Goodbye To A Classic Cat Toy

Saying Goodbye To A Classic Cat Toy

After more than a decade of playtime, it’s time for me to retire one of my most beloved designs—the Janery Catnip Log. It was durable, stuffed with the finest leaf catnip, and tough enough to withstand countless bunny kicks. For years, many of you told me it was the best catnip toy your cats ever had.

But don’t worry—durable, cat-approved fun isn’t going anywhere. If your cat loves a tough catnip toy to wrestle and kick, my oversized Catnip Kicker is the perfect upgrade. And for cats who prefer a lightweight toy to chase and pounce, the Petite Catnip Jingler is proof that a durable catnip toy doesn’t have to be large to deliver hours of entertainment.

Which Cat Toys Are Retiring (and Which Ones Are Staying)

Whoops—my announcement about a few products taking their Final Prowl may have left some of you wondering which cat toys are going, which are staying, and why.  Let’s clear that up.

First, the lineup: right now I offer three cat toy styles in a rainbow of fabrics:

The Catnip Jingler 2-Pack

Janery Catnip Jingler Petite Catnip Pounce Toy

The Catnip Log:  Janery's original 10" Catnip Toy

Janery Catnip Log Ten Inch Durable Catnip Toy

The Catnip Kicker - an 18" Catnip Toy

The Janery Catnip Kicker Huge Durable Cat Wrestling Toy

The Toy That’s Retiring: The Catnip Log

The Catnip Log is bowing out for good, and it’s a bittersweet goodbye. It was not only the first fabulous catnip cat toy I ever made — it was the first of its kind. It dared to be bigger, bolder, and more durable than the catnip cigars on the market in 2013.

I designed it as part of my unofficial No Scrap Left Behind mission, saving fabric scraps from the cutting room floor. I loved turning the leftover fabric from pet bed production into something playful and useful.

Cliché alert: times have changed. My cutting templates have evolved, and now the fabric scraps are the perfect size for Catnip Kickers and Catnip Jinglers. The market is overflowing with catnip log toys these days. My personal faves are the ones made by Chester and Pearl in North Carolina.

So, while it’s hard to retire my original toy, it makes sense to let the Catnip Log take its Final Prowl.

Which Catnip Cat Toys Are Staying?

The  18” Catnip Kicker is built for cats who love to hug, bunny-kick, and tumble with a tough, long toy. It’s flexible, durable, and stuffed with a blend of fiber and my signature stem-free catnip leaf.

The Petite Catnip Jinglers (set of 2) are easy to bat across the room, with a hidden jingle that keeps cats pouncing. Small in size, but packed with fun - and irresistible catnip leaf.

In short: Catnip Kickers for the wrestlers, Catnip Jinglers for the pouncers.

Still Want a Janery Catnip Log?

I hear you! If your cat’s true love is the Log, there are still a few ways to snag one while supplies last. You’ll find them tucked inside:

Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

And About Janery's Signature Catnip Mats . . .

If you’re eagle-eyed, you may have noticed Catnip Mats sitting in the Final Prowl category too. That’s a longer story I’ll share soon, but here’s the quick version: I don’t expect to restock them before the end of 2025.

For now, the few that remain are officially Final Prowl items. Let’s keep our toe beans crossed for 2026 — I want them back just as much as you do.
